2022 “Pressing the Pieces Together” Bench Press Benefit for Autism

One of the things that is lost in all the online bickering about powerlifting is the amount of altruism that is involved in the sport. This can be as simple as a lifter literally giving the bench shirt off their back to help another lifter, to the actual charitable contributions that this sport continues to generate. We have always tried our best to give back whenever possible. The Hope Kids – Relentless Powerlifting events are a perfect example. Another example is the APF 2022 “Pressing the Pieces Together” Bench Press Benefit for Autism

The 2022 “Pressing the Pieces Together” Bench Press Benefit for Autism is a bench only meet with all the proceeds going to benefit the Autism Society of America. Over the past 7 years the “Pressing the Pieces Together” events have raised over $50,000 for this worthy cause. Each lifter that is invited to participate in this meet is asked to raise funds for the Autism Society with a goal of $100. Obviously that is a very modest goal, and we want to do more.

This year Mrs. Mammoth Strength, Rebecca Roberts (@notmrsdonjohnson) has been invited to compete. for those of you that don’t know my wife, she has been competing in powerlifting for over 25 years, first competing in 1996. She has the highest multi-ply total for any women over the age of 40 with a 1708lb total at last year’s @worldpowerorg Super Finals. She has best lifts of 694lb squat, 451lb bench, and 575lb deadlift. In addition to powerlifting, she is a North American Strongman Corporation Middleweight Pro. We are excited have Rebecca part of the event this year!

Powerlifting has been an extremely positive part of my life for a very long time. I have tried hard to use powerlifting as a way to lift others up, and I’m so honored and excited to be able to use powerlifting as a way to help Press the Pieces Together!! -Rebecca Roberts-
